Connect and Reflect: Understanding Finnish Culture Together

A diverse group of young people from Mirsal is participating in their first European Solidarity Corps project, motivated by a
shared desire to positively impact their community. This initiative aims to bridge cultural gaps and language barriers,
focusing on learning about Finnish culture—its history, customs, and values—while celebrating their Arabic and Kurdish
identities.
The initiative targets Arabic and Kurdish-speaking youth aged 16-30, many of whom feel isolated due to cultural and
linguistic differences. By fostering an inclusive environment, the project aims to build connections, enhance well-being, and
promote cultural exchange, benefiting both participants and the wider community.
The overarching goal is to improve the integration and active participation of immigrant youth in Finnish society, creating a
vibrant community that celebrates diversity and mutual understanding.
