Youth For Better Work
Great Experience

In March 2021, Mirsal Association launched the Youth for Better work project funded by European Solidarity Corps. In this project, seven young people living in Finland with an Arab background had the opportunity to develop their skills and gain new experience by being responsible for project planning, implementation and reporting. Young people had the opportunity to acquire skills related to leadership, organization, juggling multiple tasks and completing them efficiently and effectively.
Thanks to European Solidarity Corps, project team was able to organize a peer support group consisting of seven events about the Finnish working system. The peer support group was organized within the framework of non-formal education and youth events. In addition, our youth participated in peer support training organized by Finnish Refugee Council to enhance their skills as peer tutors.

Sincere appreciation and thanks for the good time and useful knowledge, said project participant Hashem Ba Alawi.

Eight young people from an Arab background consisting of three females and five males demonstrated their commitment in peer support sessions. Despite of challenges caused by COVID 19 restrictions, we have organized 2 online sessions, two outdoor sessions and three indoor sessions. Our young people learned among others about trade unions, work culture, the SAK employment advisory service for Immigrants, and many other tips for starting a working life in Finland.

Our project is now over, but the good impact of the project will be on our personalities forever, says team member Niina Tutah.
