Migrant Voices for Democracy:
Empowering Future Leaders
A two-year initiative designed to empower 247 young people from migrant backgrounds to actively engage in EU and national democratic processes. This project focuses on equipping participants with the knowledge and skills needed to become active citizens while fostering a deeper understanding of EU values.
Through comprehensive training, we aim to develop future political mentors who will guide and inspire their peers. A key element of the project is the participants’ involvement in the 2025 municipal elections, which includes a visit to the European Parliament and a dedicated focus on voting rights in Strasbourg, France.
By providing firsthand experience with national and EU institutions, the project seeks to rebuild trust in both EU and Finnish democratic systems. Participants will gain valuable insight into the democratic process, empowering them to play an active role in shaping their communities and fostering a sense of belonging within a democratic society.
