Save the Date: Arabic Language Day 2026 Brings Culture, Music and Communities Together in Vantaa

12 December 2026 | Tikkurila, Vantaa | Free Entry
What if you could experience a culture without speaking its language?
On 12 December 2026, Mirsal ry and its partners invite everyone to celebrate Arabic Language Day in Tikkurila, Vantaa, through a day filled with music, dance, food, creativity and cultural exchange.
Organised as part of the CELEBRATE project: Preserving Arabic Dance and Celebrations as Intangible Cultural Heritage in Finland, the event brings together people of different ages, cultures and backgrounds to discover and celebrate the richness of Arabic cultural heritage.
A Celebration Beyond Language
Arabic Language Day is not only about words. It is about the stories, traditions, rhythms and experiences that connect people across generations and borders.
Visitors can look forward to a diverse programme featuring:
- Live music and traditional dance performances
- Arabic food and cultural experiences
- Creative and interactive workshops
- Panel discussions exploring language, culture and identity
- Family-friendly activities
- Opportunities to meet people and discover new traditions
The celebration is designed for everyone, including children, young people, families and individuals interested in experiencing something new.
You Don’t Need to Speak the Language to Feel the Culture
One of the event’s central messages is that cultural participation should not depend on language skills.
You do not need to speak Arabic, Finnish or English to feel welcome.
Through music, movement, creativity and shared experiences, the event creates opportunities for people to connect beyond language barriers.
At Mirsal, we believe that cultural heritage is not something to preserve behind closed doors. It is something to share, celebrate and pass on to future generations.
Preserving Heritage, Building Connections
The CELEBRATE project highlights the importance of Arabic dance and celebrations as part of the intangible cultural heritage of communities living in Finland.
By bringing these traditions into shared public spaces, the project aims to strengthen cultural understanding, encourage intergenerational exchange and create meaningful encounters between communities.
Arabic Language Day is an opportunity to celebrate the cultural diversity that enriches Finnish society while recognising the importance of maintaining cultural identities and traditions.
